TWO-SIDED – ROUND CHIP
Two-sided Round Chip to STL
Forces a perfect circle as the chip’s outline, regardless of your artwork’s shape. Position front and back independently within it — the standard maker chip size, or any diameter you choose. Perfect for a maker chip!
How it works
- Upload a front image and back image
- Remove backgrounds if needed (optional – skip it and the full image is used as is)
- Detect colors separately for each side, and fine tune any color you want
- Drag and scale the front image onto the chips circle
- Drag and scale the back image onto the chips circle
- Set diameter, thickness, and colors, then export – you’ll get a separate STL per color.
- Import into your slicer – load as a single object with multiple parts
- Select colors for the parts in your slicer. Hint – The color HEX is in the file name.
Detailed Instructions
Why a forced circle?
Most artwork that “looks round” isn’t actually a perfect circle when traced pixel by pixel. This tool sidesteps that entirely — the outline is a true mathematical circle, and your front and back artwork are each independently sized and positioned within it, rather than the shape being derived from either image.
Choosing your images
- PNG with transparency works best for clean background detection, though it’s optional — you can skip background removal entirely for either side.
- Your artwork doesn’t need to fill the whole circle. Whatever space is left over gets filled with a background color you choose, independently for front and back.
Background Removal
Optional and independent per side. A Detail slider per side controls the working resolution used for color detection, separate from the chip’s final size.
Color Detection
Detect colors separately for front and back. Click any swatch to fine-tune that color, or uncheck a color to leave it out of the export.
Positioning Front & Back
Unlike our other two-sided tools, front and back are positioned completely independently here — drag each onto its own circle, or use the Scale and X/Y offset fields for precise placement. The mirror flip needed for correct two-sided printing is applied automatically to the back at export.
Settings & Export
- Chip diameter — defaults to 40mm, the standard maker chip size. Adjust to any size.
- Circle resolution — controls how finely the round shape is built, separate from the per-image Detail sliders.
- Core color — the chip’s structural middle layer, independent of your artwork colors.
- Front & back background colors — fill whatever space each side’s artwork doesn’t cover.
Click Generate & Download — you’ll get a ZIP with one STL per color. Load them together in your slicer and assign a filament color to each.
